Jim Beloff || The Daily Uke -- Baritone Edition
Today, I received an e-mail from Jim Beloff, who has published several ukulele books and has the fabulous uke-centric website, Flea Market Music. This site is great to explore. You can discover quite a bit on the bulletin board. Below is a link to his books. Soon it will include another for the bari-uke player called, The Daily Uke -- Baritone Edition.

Jim wrote,
Thanks for your postings about our upcoming songbook, The Daily Ukulele: Baritone Edition. We'll have copies for sale next week in our online store and the first 100 copies will be numbered and signed by me and Liz. The book will feature all the same songs (in the same keys) as the first Daily Ukulele songbook (365) but with baritone chord fingerings (grids) at the top of each song. This will allow bari players to play from the same book that their C tuned fellow players use. Also, of course, the text pages up front and chord chart are all baritone (DGBE) oriented.
Best,

Michael Carey || Don't Think Twice (Dylan cover) & Pono Review
Michael gives a personal testimonial about his new Pono baritone ukulele. I would also like to add that the Pono has an adjustable rod in the neck. I was recently at Gryphon Strings in Palo Alto and played one of these. The string action was just amazingly perfect and the instrument has a very nice feel.
I have two vintage Favilla baritones that I love and I have played a Martin baritone as well. The Favillas have a deep body and a relatively thick neck, a substantial feel, which feels very comfortable in my hand. When I played the Martin, I noticed a major difference in the feel of the neck, the neck is thinner (from front to back) and flatter.
The Pono has the flatter Martin-like thinner neck. It is well crafted and feels well balanced in my hands. The fine adjustable neck make the action so easy that the instrument is buttery good in its feel. To my ear the instrument also has a great solid bari-sound.
Now, listen to Michael's glowing report...

Corey Fujimoto || Ko'olau Tenor Guitar #1 [DGBE]
This is a very beautiful instrument. Corey shows it off very nicely...
Hawaiian Music Supply comments...
"This is the first Ko'olau tenor guitar made, just strung up today! It's a 23" scale 4 string guitar tuned like a baritone ukulele or the high four on guitar, DGBE. It can have other tunings as well but we put it at the standard tenor guitar tuning for this demo.
Corey hadn't played this song before but said he heard it on the drive over. He was just figuring it out, finding his way on musical memory. He wanted to wait and play something he knew but I told him "no way! that sounds so cool!" Right?
Tune into our review site- http://theukulelereview.com and we'll release pictures and more video's of this gorgeous new instrument soon. Noa and Ryan at Ko'olau make some of the finest custom instruments you will ever find. This one is nothing short of phenomenal. See more from them at http://koolauukulele.com"

Todd B || Sittin' on Top of the World
Todd has been an inspiration to me for a long time. He has turned me on to many older tunes that I have enjoyed: Gospel, Blues, Old Timey. I have three of his self-produced CD's. If you want to hear an absolutely fabulous original listen to Surburban Fool.
