Camsuke || This Is My Father's World (Herringe Baritone Ukulele)

Here's a tuning that I haven't seen available before for the baritone ukulele. Sandy Weltman's site has a couple of free songs as examples of his work in CGBD "plectrum" tuning.

Sandy says on his site Sandy Weltman Music,
"I use a plectrum tuning scheme on the baritone ukelele. It works wonderfully and allows the ukelele to resonate at a deeper/warmer frequency. For more info on this tuning, please download the free pdf below (see below). Also watch the accompanying video to learn the chords in this tuning and to get a better understanding of it (also below). Included in the pdf and video is a simple song (Ain’t She Sweet) in this tuning."

I haven't found the Ain't She Sweet video and will need to check in with Sandy to locate it.

Podcast || Commercial Suicide Songwriting

My wife Wendy and I enjoy watching the the Tiny House Nation show. In a recent show a musician paired down his stringed instrument collection to get into a tiny gothic home. He does a podcast about song writing and this podcast talks about his tiny home adventure and possible T.V. show themesong.

Baritonics on the Road || Reno Uke Fest || Tyde Music

I have been on a road trip which I started off last Friday at the Reno Ukulele Festival. I had just a few hours to connect with some old friends, review the merchandise, and make some new friends. I was most excited about meeting the new luthiers, Devin and Tyler.

Their company sprung out of their experience as furniture builders in the Lake Tahoe area. I like their innovative, recycled, and fresh approach towards luthiery. Their innovative baritone (and standard GCEA) ukulele design has differences that I think could build their business into a strong following of contemporary players. http://tydemusic.com/instruments

Here's Devin & Tyler with the "Recycled Wood" Bari-Uke

This is the Tyde Music Table of Instruments. Note the wide selection of ukuleles and woods. The rectangular wood boxes are amazingly didgeridoos! They also have iPhone wood box resonator/amplifiers. See http://tydemusic.com/instruments

Here's Devin with the Headstock

This front was made out of a wood cabinet door.
The 3 diminishing holes are their trademark.

I asked for an up close photo of the head stock which was made from a worn shingle from a Lake Tahoe boathouse.
