Sandor Nagyszalanczy || Ukulele Techmeister

My ukulele friend from the Ukulele Club of Santa Cruz and Woodworking author Sandor were recently at a musical Birthday Party for another ukulele playing friend and he alerted me that he had been doing some research on the history of the baritone ukulele  I asked him to share his efforts with HB.

Sandor is also the proud owner of a Kiinard baritone ukulele and has told me there will be a video upcoming. I will do my best to share a copy with you when I know it's ready.

He also has a new Graziano Selmer-style bari that he'll video soon: he says, "It's amazing!" Selmer-style is a new term for me. I found a wiki link showing off this jazzy style...

Sandor has sent an extensive research background which also includes some of the Tiki Kings' notes posted several years ago. Stay tuned and I'll share more of these notes with you like the one below.

"In the 1950s and 1960s Herk Favilla was involved with music publication as well. He wrote a book, "Baritone Ukulele Method," in 1949, that was first printed in 1950. In 1951 he authored and published a two-volume baritone ukulele method, one volume for self-taught beginners, the other for students and professionals. Soprano ukulele production ceased after 1968 and baritone ukuleles were only produced by Favilla until 1985."

Beginnig lyrics (Watch on YouTube for the remainder)

Don’t count on no tomorrows don’t dote on yesterdays
The only time you really got is right now here today
It’s all you got
No matter what they say
You better spend it wisely and live your life today...
